Kendall at 1 Week

It's hard to believe it's been just about a week since Kendall was born. Where does the time go? She continues to be a good baby. Her night time schedule has been a little hairy the last few days, but overall she's been pretty easy. The last few nights she's been up for 2-3 hours at a time...eating, pooping, eating, pooping, eating and pooping again. We just can't seem to get thing in sync! She is pretty alert for only being a week old. She can't miss a thing.

Grandma Sue arrived today!! We are so happy to have the extra help. Ryan has been keeping her busy this morning playing cars, playing football and counting money. They will have a fun week.

David goes back to work tomorrow, so things will get interesting. Ryan has gotten used to Daddy being home every day. Grandma and I may have our hands full!

Day 3 with Kendall

We had a great day today! Kendall had her 1st doctor appointment so we dressed her up for the occasion. She has an adorable summer dress, and we thought we'd better get some use out of it with the warm temps today. She looked so adorable!!

She did great at the doctor. Didn't like being weighed (but who does!) or her exam. Other than that she just slept.

Ryan came with us to get his flu shot. He watched the nurse put the needle in his leg and didn't even flinch. She put the bandaid on and he was done...without making a peep! What a trooper!!

So far, Ryan's been adjusting well to his new sister. He still won't hold her, but he'll at least touch her now...and even gave her a kiss on her head today. Kendall has been a very content baby...I have to wake her up to feed her and change her. Such a difference from her brother!

Welcome, Kendall Jo!

Kendall Jo Boehm made her entrance into the world at 3:42 am on 9.20.09. We really didn't expect her to come this week, so were pleasantly surprised! She weighed in at 7 pounds, 10 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long.

So far, she is a great baby (I hope this doesn't jinx it!). I actually have to wake her up to eat! That was never the case with Ryan. He cried non-stop the first 3 months!! Kendall is very sweet and snuggly. She loves to suck on her fingers and has no trouble with breastfeeding! Hooray!!

We got home last night, and got a good night's sleep. We debated if we should go home so early, but I felt good and Kendall was doing great so we did. I was much more comfortable in my own bed, and Kendall did awesome...so happy we made the decision we did.

Ryan seems to be adjusting well. He's a little more interested in her today, and very curious when she cries. He thinks it is funny when she sneezes, too!

The Zoo

We finally got to see the bears! We usually can't find them.

Check out that big belly! 39 weeks. 1 day. I think it's time!

Ryan checking out a cave.

All of us went to the zoo today. We hadn't been there in awhile and just seemed like the perfect day to go...and it was! The weather was so nice, and it was super quiet...summer is over and all the kids are back at school (and too early for field trips)! Ryan was in his glory running from exhibit to exhibit. It gave me the chance to walk, walk, walk. The doctor told me yesterday that it is highly unlikely that the baby will come this week, so I'm trying to walk as much as possible to get things moving along a little quicker!

Mr. Independent

Ryan has been playing independently a lot more lately. I'm trying to encourage it, because I know it will be my saving grace when the baby comes. He loves to play with his trains and cars, and will break out into song while playing on his own. It is so adorable! The other day, he built a super long train and was so proud of himself!

Insomnia

I have 2 weeks to go until my due date, September 22nd. I've been dealing with insomnia for the last 4 weeks, and I'm sick of it. Some nights I sleep great, but the majority of my nights are filled with sleepless hours. I'm sure the baby is just getting me ready for what is to come, but I'm tired!

I had my 38 week appointment yesterday and there was no change from last week. I could have cried. I had my hopes up that I would deliver this week, but it looks like there is no chance of that. I decided yesterday that the last 3 weeks of pregnancy are like the first 3 months...you feel like you might die and that feeling good will never happen again.

It really has been an easy pregnancy for the most part, so I shouldn't be so negative. I'm just ready to meet this little girl!

Ryan and Charlie

Ryan met his buddy Charlie at Co-op Preschool last fall. Being the two oldest boys in the group, they really hit it off. I'm sure the other parents would cringe as their children soaked in all the rambunctious behavior! They would get going and just act crazy...running, screaming and laughing. They had so much fun!

We've seen Charlie a few times this summer, but it certainly doesn't compare to seeing him every week. Last week we met at Carkeek Park...aka "the Train Beach"....Ryan's favorite. We go there to throw rocks endlessly. Ryan has gotten brave over the summer and has begun to test out the water, instead of just throwing rocks. It was a cool, foggy morning, so I really didn't think he would go in the water. I didn't pack extra clothes nor did I warn Liz (Charlie's Mom) that getting wet would be an option.

Ryan went right in the water, and Charlie went in right after him. According to Liz, this has never happened before. They were both fully clothed and in shoes. Ryan, thankfully, had shorts and sandals on, but Charlie was in jeans and tennis shoes! They could have cared less, and had the best time playing, splashing and making noise.

We definitely need to get them together more often! They really are quite the pair. It is beyond adorable when they give each other hugs and kisses goodbye!
