It was one of those days where none of us could get along. I piled the whiny kids into the car and drove to the closest hike. I told them we only had to go for 40 minutes - 20 minutes up and 20 minutes back - and we could go back home. We ended up being on the trail for over an hour and after it was all said and done we were able to get along and enjoy the rest of the day. It's amazing what some fresh air will do!

Gorgeous Sunsets
The sky put on a spectacular show every night we were at the beach.

The Wild Blue Yonder
Ryan wanted to venture up the "sand dollar" beach, so that's just what we did.
We drove up the beach, and took in all the amazing scenery along the way.
David found us an awesome spot of our own amongst all the other clam diggers. It seriously was perfect.
The girls roamed through the tide pools while the boys dug clams.
I kept finding random hearts left by Mother Nature. I thought it was so fitting since it was Valentine's Day weekend.
David found a crab full of eggs! So awesome to see. It was definitely our science lesson of the day. We safely returned him to his habitat so those eggs could hatch.
After digging clams, Ryan got busy collecting sand dollars. We found many!
And Natalie just wandered and wandered and wandered until she was completely soaking wet, yet again, bus oh so happy!
Our attempt at a family picture. Ha!
We were so sad to leave, but enjoyed watching an amazing sunset on our drive home. What an amazing afternoon!

Like Father Like Son
It wasn't until they were almost done, that I realized they were doing the exact same motions at the exact same time. So funny!
Extra Days
Our plan was to head home Monday. Plans can change.
When we woke up to another beautiful day on Monday, I did not want to leave. I knew this was special. It's very rare we're at the beach and the weather is this amazing - no wind, sunshine and 65+ temps.
I had taken the week off of work since Ryan was off for mid-winter break, so I did have the freedom to stay.
David, however, had to work, so we figured out a plan so the kids and I could stay a few extra days. But then at the last minute David decided to stay with us. His new job allows him the flexibility to work from anywhere (yay!).
So, while David worked from the house in the morning, the kids and I sat in the sand and soaked up the sunshine for hours.
What a gift!
It was warm and the ocean was amazing to watch! The waves were huge and so beautiful.
Then the kids got totally silly and started busting a move.

Walking Robbie
These kids love Grandma Karen's dog, Robbie. Well, to be honest, Natalie has a love/hate relationship with him. Kendall and Ryan LOVE him. They love taking turns walking him and we even let them walk him all the way down to the beach and back all by themselves. They were so excited to be given that freedom!

Sand Engineers
After we got our limits of clams, the kids decided to put their engineering skills to work and made a water channel.
