Going on Thirteen

Can't you picture her 10 years from now as a texting obsessed teenager?

Stylin'

Kendall found her shades tonight in a toy bin and thought she was Oh. So. Cool. wearing them.

Going In

David put on Kendall's Tinker Bell headlamp to aid him in changing Natalie's diaper.  So funny!

My Snow Angels

Check out those new teeth!

We have had so much fun playing in the snow the last few days.  I love my little snow angels.

Artists

Ryan and Kendall spent the other evening painting pictures for David, for his birthday.  I love seeing what they create, and was quite impressed with Ryan's painting.  I said, "Wow! Ryan, that is so beautiful.  I love all the colors you used".  Ryan, "I know. It's because I'm an artist".  Oh my goodness.  He cracks me up.

Snow!

Seattle got it's first snow fall of the year on Sunday (and we're anxiously anticipating more!).  Ryan woke up and said, "Mom, I looked out my window and there is snow!  Can I go outside?".  He would have stayed out all day and played.  I love seeing his excitement.  The girls had fun, too.  We went sledding, made a snowman and threw snowballs.  Ahhh, the magic of snow!

Watching Kendall and Ryan sled down the hill.

Down they go!

So much fun!

Seven Months

Miss Natalie is seven months old.  She is still proving herself to be a difficult child.  She hasn't been sleeping at night nor is she content during the day.  She smiles at the drop of the hat, though.  She has the best smile, and it brings us such joy.

I would say she is getting better during the day.  She is more content to play on the floor on her own for longer periods.  She adores Ryan and Kendall, and vice versa.  The both love playing with her, and making her smile.  Kendall has been so sweet to her.  She has hugs and kisses for her all the time and loves to pat her head.  I love it.

Her sleeping habits have gotten worse.  Much worse.  She goes down about 7:30, and is up by 8:30, then 9:00 and then again at 10:00.  By that point I throw in the towel and end up sleeping with her on the couch.  Needless to say it's very frustrating and impossible to get anything done!

I feel like we're getting into a good routine with cereal.  She seems to enjoy it now.  And lets me know when it is 5 o'clock.  Just like clock work.  We tried feeding her peas again, and she doesn't gag anymore.  This is also a good thing.

She's really started rolling.  I swear I blinked and she had moved herself halfway across the room.  Let the baby-proofing begin!

She still loves to be outside and on the go.  She is so content to ride in the car, stroller or front carrier.

She is definitely teething.  Two are in, and more are coming.  She is constantly chewing on something - toys, her fingers, her toes, blocks.

Her hair is getting lighter.  It is more of a light brown now instead of the dark black it was when she was born.  Her eyes are still a dark steel blue-grey.  The doctor thinks they will stay that color.  I'm curious to see if they will.

Evening Sky

The sky was beyond amazing the other night.  The light coming through the house was so magical, I had to peak out and see what was happening.  This is what we saw.  Gorgeous!

Happy Birthday David!

Yesterday was David's big day.  The kids and I had so much fun celebrating what an awesome dad, husband and person he is.

Showing off the beautiful painting Ryan did for him.

I just love how they have the exact same facial expression.

The First 10 Days of 2012

The first 10 days of 2012 have been busy.  After some Christmas letdown which appeared in the form of terrible behavior by Ryan we seemed to have settled back into our normal / crazy schedule.

Kendall has been busy undressing herself.  We're pretty sure this is her showing interest in potty training, but then she confuses us by getting ready to go outside instead of into the bathroom.  While David was on duty Friday morning she took her diaper off and pooped on the floor.  It got worse from there but I'll spare the details.  Did I mention how happy I was that I was at work?

She also kept busy playing with a new doll set my Aunt Mary and Uncle Steve sent.  It's the cutest toy, and her and Ryan have both been enjoying it.

Ryan was beyond thrilled to get back to school and his little routine.  The kid thrives when he's on a routine.

Natalie has been busy keeping us up at night.  She is up 4 times minimum.  She is just not comfortable.  Is it teeth?  Because she's obviously teething:

Is it her tummy?  Who knows.  Every so often she'll sleep through the night but I'm sure this is due to pure exhaustion.

We got her crib lowered and her musical aquarium back in working order.  All three kids loved this.  If I lose track of Kendall, it's the first place I now look for her.

We also introduced Natalie to baby food, other than cereal.  We started with peas, which did not go over so well.

We'll give it some time, and try again.  She has been more content on the floor and can scoot around quite well now.  Most of the time she is a smiley, happy girl.  Now, if we could just get her to sleep we'd be in business!

David and I are a little disappointed to be back to our normal schedule.  I took a couple days off during the holidays which gave us two full days off together two weeks in a row.  Wow!  Our typical weekly schedule gives us Wednesdays off together which sounds great in theory.  However, one of us has to fulfill our Co-op (Ryan's pre-school) obligation on Wednesdays from 12-3 so we never feel like it's a full day off.  To have two days off, with no Co-op obligation, was amazing.

After a busy, hectic week we usually make Friday night movie night.  The kids get to pick out their favorite movie (it's usually the same one for about 4 weeks) and enjoy some popcorn while watching.  This week we mixed it up a bit using our new DVD players (thanks, Michael and Jenn).  Ryan and Kendall thought it was the coolest thing to watch a movie in their bedroom.  They had to forgo popcorn, but they didn't care.

My new Blurb book arrived.  This is by far the coolest thing I've come across in a long time.  I can actually print my blog into a book.  Gone are the hours and hours of traditional scrapbooking I had envisioned I'd have to spend to chronicle the Boehm Family happenings.  Blurb downloads all my blog entries, and after a few hours of editing pictures, etc. it prints into an awesome, hardcover book.

We welcomed Grandma Sue and Grandpa Ken to Seattle on Sunday.  They are staying a few days until they set off for Paradise (aka Maui) for 3 weeks.  Grandma Sue has a bum knee so is on crutches, and basically laid up.  This is really not Grandma's style, but she's keeping a good attitude.  The kids are getting the hang of it - bring the games to Grandma!

Grandpa has stepped it up, and is now a pro at making bottles for Natalie and feeding her cereal in addition to taking great care of Grandma Sue!

We had a late birthday celebration for my Dad (Dec. 31) and an early birthday celebration for David (Jan. 16) last night at half time of the National Championship game.  I made my Aunt Jeannie's Mint Chocolate cake which was delicious.  We're always looking for a good excuse to eat cake!

And before we let Grandma take off we needed to take advantage of her hair cutting skills.  Both Ryan and Kendall were in desperate need of haircuts, and Grandma Sue does the best job.  Even with a bum knee.
