New Year's Eve Extravaganza

I had to work all day New Year's Eve day, so we just decided to stay in for the night and have our own little party.  It was perfect.  David whipped up this amazing appetizer.  It makes my mouth water just thinking about it.  Then we opened a fancy bottle of champange to ring in the new year!  Here's to a great 2016!

Santa Kendall

Zoo Fun

Our next adventure was to the zoo.  We hadn't been in awhile, so it was good to get back.  It was a chilly day, so was curious to see if the animals would be hiding.  As it turns out, they weren't hiding at all.  We saw so many up close and personal, especially the tigers.

We learned quickly to look for the patches of sun, and that is where the animals would be. :)

One of the coolest things was seeing the baby kangaroo again.  We first saw back in May when Kendall, Natalie and I were there.  It was pretty cool to see how much she'd grown, and to hear that she still rides in her mom's pouch - even though she was almost the same size as her mom.

It was a really fun day.  Most of the photos were taken my Ryan.

Set, Hut

All this kids does is throws balls and makes amazing catches into the couch.

Tacoma Fun

I took a few days off after Christmas to spend with the kids, since they didn't have school.  It was so nice to have that extra time with them.  We planned a few adventures to fill our time.  Since it's like pulling teeth to get them to leave the house, I knew they had to be some fun adventures to get them going.

Our first outing was to meet up with our friends in Tacoma and visit the Childrens' Museum there.  We'd never been, so we were all excited to check it out.  It was such a cool place - bursting with creativity!  The kids had a great time, and I enjoyed catching up with my friend.

After the museum we hit the ice skating rink across the street!  Such a fun day!

Entertaining Gift

Natalie received this fun "color your own playhouse" for Christmas from Michael and Jenn.

All 3 kids entertained themselves for hours over the holidays getting it just right.  They each took a side and took their time coloring it to perfection.

After Christmas Adventures

We ventured up to see the snow in the mountains.  It was so incredibly beautiful, and the kids had the best time playing in the waist-deep snow.

The Best Gifts

The kids do the most amazing art projects at school.  They have art docent come in and lead the lessons.  I'm blown away every time.

Ryan and Kendall had these awesome gifts wrapped up under the tree for Christmas.  I love them so much.

Ryan made the salmon and the glass piece.  Kendall did the adorable Lego skiier.

Christmas Day Hike

It was just us this Christmas Day, a very rare thing.  Melanie stopped in for breakfast, but after that it was just us.  It was quiet and lovely, but also weird.  Weird because we weren't around family and weird because we had no plans all day - no events to get to, no to do lists, no projects to work on - just a very quiet day.  And we liked it!

We needed to get some fresh air, so we went on a short hike.  The kids whined about it, but ended up running and laughing the entire hike.  Funny how that happens.

Christmas With The Boehms

The Boehms joined us for an early Christmas celebration, and delicious dinner by David (as always).  It was a wonderful evening having everyone together.  The kids loved having their cousins visit, and we all loved snuggling Kaycie.
