More Easter Fun

We took the kids to a community Easter Egg Hunt last Saturday.  Neither of the kids were into it at all.  The lawn was littered with thousands of plastic eggs, and the kids could have cared less.  I even picked one up for Kendall, and she threw it back on the lawn.  Ryan picked up about 6 eggs and was done.  They did seem to enjoy themselves, but did not get into it as much as we thought they would.

On Sunday the Easter Bunny left the Easter baskets in David's car.  He wanted David to be able to be a part of the Easter festivities after he was done with work.  When David got home he kids FINALLY got their baskets.  Ryan asked close to 100 times when his Dad would be home, and couldn't figure out why the Easter bunny didn't hide eggs in the yard.  Turns out, the Bunny came back and hid them in the yard in the afternoon.  Sneaky little bunny.

Kendall so happy with her jelly beans!

The Big Girl Bed

After much discussion, we decided it was time to move Kendall to a big girl bed.  We know she's a little young to be out of a crib and neither of us knew if we were up for the transition challenge, but we decided it was time.  First of all, she wasn't sleeping in her crib anyway.  She was up every night, and would scream for us to come rescue her.  Since we are both exhausted and didn't want Ryan to wake up one of us would rescue her and drag her into bed with us.  We have successfully sleep trained her numerous times, but it only worked for so long.  We decided it wasn't worth it anymore.  Plus, we wanted the transition complete before the new baby comes...because she'll need the crib after all.  The transition with Ryan was a nightmare, so we have been prepared for and were expecting the worst.

Tuesday night was the big night.  We read a couple books, sang a song, then turned on the music.  And Kendall never got up.  She went right to sleep.  And she slept through the night.  And she did again last night!

It's been a huge success so far, but I'm still not getting my hopes up.  I feel like it's a fluke, and a battle at bedtime is still to come.  Tonight was a little more difficult getting her down, but that's usually the case when both David and I are home.  If it's just me, she goes down without a problem, and if David is home solo she does the same.  However, if we're both here she will not go down without a fight.  This seems to hold true with the big girl bed too.  I just ended up snuggling with her until she fell asleep so it really wasn't awful.

It will be interesting to see how the rest of the week goes.  So far, we are very happy!  And since Kendall is sleeping in her bed all night, Ryan has decided that maybe he should do the same.  I actually might end up getting some decent sleep...until June that is!

Gina and Emma

My sister Gina and Emma (5-1/2) visited us from Minnesota last weekend.  We had such a great time!

We visited Palisade (David's restaurant) for brunch Sunday morning, then the Tulip Festival afterward.  The tulips weren't in bloom, but the daffodils were and it was beautiful - wet, but beautiful.

The rest of the weekend we just hung out, and did some shopping.  It was really fun for me to watch Emma and Ryan interact.  They usually only see each other at the cabin when all the other cousins are around.  Emma pairs up with Grace and Ryan pairs up with Luke so they have never really interacted that much.  Their imaginations took them to many places!  They spent a lot of time pretending they were traveling on an airplane.  Emma was so good to include Kendall and keep Ryan in check.  She is a rule follower, which was great for Ryan to see.

Spending quality time with the two of them was awesome!  The weekend flew by way too fast.
