Two Weeks

It's amazing how slow the last two weeks of a pregnancy can take, and how quickly the two weeks after the baby is born fly by.

It's been a sad, crazy week.  Sad because we had to say goodbye to Grandma Sue and Grandpa Ken.  They were such great help.  We couldn't have done it without them.  Crazy because Grandma Sue and Grandpa Ken had to leave and we had to fend for ourselves.  David went back to work, and I was left to fly solo.  Thankfully, Ryan spent the weekend with Grandma Karen and Grandpa Bill so it was a girls weekend at the house.

I did get a little taste of how difficult putting 3 kids to bed on my own will be.  Just getting Kendall down was a challenge.  Adding Ryan to the mix might put me over the top!  I did manage, though.

Natalie seems to be growing like a weed.  I'm not sure if she really is (she will be weighed on Thursday) or if it just feels like she is because she spends all day and all night eating.  She really is a good baby, and is pretty easy to figure out when she's unhappy.

Here are a few pictures so you can see what we've been up to.  Kendall has been quite a hand full this week as you will see!

My first attempt at putting Kendall down for her nap while trying to take care of Natalie - who was hungry.  Kendall was not happy she wasn't getting 100% of my attention.  I left her in her room, and I guess she decided the hallway was a better place to take a nap!

Always so happy to hold her little sister.

Such a good big brother.  He is so happy to see Natalie awake so he can talk to her.

One Week In

It's been over a week since Natalie was born and we are all doing well.  Both the kids have adjusted to her arrival better than we expected.  They are both so sweet to her and love to talk to her.  Kendall starting saying her name within days and it just melts your heart when it rolls off her tongue.  She loves to give her sister kisses and rub her little head of black hair.

Grandma Sue has been here all week, and Grandpa Ken arrived yesterday.  I'm not sure what we are going to do when they leave.  I picture this ship sinking quite rapidly when they leave on Thursday.  Ryan and Kendall have gotten spoiled doing whatever they want when they want.  That will change when it's just Mom around, and Natalie needs to be fed.  I guess we'll worry about that after we leave the airport!

We had a nice Father's Day with David's family.  All the Boehm's spent the day with us and played lots and lots of baseball with Ryan!  Kendall even got to run the bases.  It was a fun day with everyone, and I forgot to snap photos to capture the moment.

Here are a few pictures from Natalie's first week with us.  She is precious, and I still can't get over all that black hair.

401 1st Street

On Thursday, my parents officially sold the house I grew up in at 401 1st Street in Mahnomen, Minnesota.  While I am happy that they no longer have the extra up-keep or the stress of preparing to sell, I'm sad the house is no longer ours.

It was a great house to grow up in.

I have so many memories.

-The many days of making mud pies in the sandbox in the back yard, which eventually evolved to a more elaborate house in the back shed where we would "can" jelly using berries - which I'm sure were poisonous - from the neighborhood trees.

-I'm pretty sure we married off the entire neighborhood at 6 years old by holding weddings on the lilac adorned swing set.

-Flying down the steep stairs on our bellies was a daily occurrence.  I'm still amazed none of us flew through the window at the bottom.

-Gina and Jenny Bartz will never let me live down that I "locked" them in our bedroom closet.  All they had to do was slide the door open, but they have their side of the story.

-Getting ready on school mornings.  All 6 of us managed to do it using one bathroom.  Pretty impressive.  The only downside was that you could never lay in front of the warm heater as long as you wanted!

-Watching Saturday cartoons in the sun porch, the best room ever.  And as I got older watching football on Sundays while sitting at my art desk.  Oh, and all those fun sleepovers that were held in that room.

-Family dinners in the kitchen.  Fancy dinners in the dining room.

-The hours I spent shooting baskets in the backyard.

-Always disliking going into the basement because it was just a bit scary every time.

-Talking on the phone to boyfriends in the downstairs bathroom with the door closed so no one could hear our conversations.

-Practicing piano, and complaining about having to practice.

-Trying to sneak in after curfew.  This only worked when Dad wasn't home, and we all knew that!

The list is endless.  I will miss that place.  It was so good to us.

39 Weeks

This past Tuesday marked 39 weeks of my pregnancy.  One week to go.  Or a bit longer.  Both the other kids were born at 39 weeks, so I've been hoping this one would be too.  My doctor thinks otherwise.  She was 95% sure, at my appointment, that I wouldn't deliver this week.  With 3 days to go, she may be right.  Which is just fine.  My doctor isn't on call this weekend, so if this baby girl wants to hang out a bit longer - like until Monday - that is just fine.  I'm just hoping she doesn't want to hang out much longer than that.  I'm ready!  I'm tired of carrying this big belly around.
