On the last day of summer, after the kids met their new teachers, we met up with friends for a day of fun! We had donuts, went to the IMAX and explored at the Pacific Science Center. It was such a fun day with friends!
We played tourists in downtown Seattle today. It was an awesome Sunday Funday for the Boehm Family. We loved wandering through Pike Place Market, something we hadn't done in a very long time. Then we made our way down to the Aquarium. David and I loved watching the kids get so excited and interested at this place we've been to so many times. It was a crazy weather day, lots of wind and rain, but we managed to miss it all somehow. Every time we were outside the sun was shining. Our last stop on our little adventure was the famous gum wall! Gross! My gum loving kids were in awe by all the gum, but were ready to leave because it did not smell good
Ryan's football team had a jamboree this morning. They played two teams. Each team got 15 minutes on offense and 15 minutes on defense. It was a good taste of what a game will look like for the boys, and us parents too.
Our boys held their own against the first team, but were outmatched quite considerably by the second team. This is the first year of the Liberty team, so there is still a lot of learning to do by the players and coaches.
The boys had fun, and learned a lot. It will be fun to see how the season progresses.
The "small" cedar tree in our front yard came down today. Every Arborist that has visited has recommended that it be the first tree to take down, and although it would have been fine for many more years we decided to take it out now so we could prevent damage to a more mature garden in the future. Plus, who doesn't want more sun when you live in the Pacific Northwest, this summer being an exception of course.
It was a very exciting morning as the crew came, limbed the tree, then took it down in chunks. The tree that came down is probably the smallest cedar in our yard, but as we watched them take it down we realized how big the trees around us really are! Amazing!
What else was amazing was how little damage they did to my garden. They knew where the limbs needed to go, and while there was some minor damage to one of our apple trees every came out rather unscathed. I was completely impressed.
David took the kids to the beach this past weekend so he could get some quality fishing time in with his dad and Ryan, and just get away. I, on the other hand, was in desperate need of some quality ALONE time.
They all had a great time at the beach with Grandma Karen and Grandmpa Bill, while I recharged at home.
And fishing was great! It's so fun to hear the boy's fishing stories!
We were extremely blessed to have found a wonderful nanny for the summer. We did a nanny share with our friends as well which made the the kid's summer pretty magical.
Ana is our neighbor's daughter. She heads off to law school this fall. We were so impressed with how she handled the kids and kept the boys (and their crazy energy) in check. She is an amazing young lady, and a neighborhood celebrity!
We're keeping our fingers crossed she may be looking for a nanny gig again next summer!
