The Help

My parents arrived in Seattle on Labor Day just in time for our BBQ.  This was not by chance.  When we heard they would be coming to stay with us for a few days, we jumped at the chance to have a BBQ.  We knew with a few reinforcements pulling off a BBQ would be so much easier.  It's always wonderful to have a few extra helping hands around.  The BBQ was the perfect kick off to a great week.

We were instructed to have "a list" ready.  Both of my parents like to keep busy.  While most of their time is monopolized by the children, as it should be, they jump to help with daily mundane tasks that have us wanting to scream some days - dishes, laundry, sweeping and getting lunch/dinner ready to name a few.

We spent a day at the old house doing yard work.  My mom was going to watch the kids, but Miss Hanni stepped in to do that so that my mom could help pull weeds.  There were more than a few to pull.  It was wonderful to have their help with that big project for sure.  The yard looked 100 times better in those few short hours.

Our new yard looked 100 times better after the week, too.  My dad loves to pull weeds so kept himself busy with that.

Ryan started his first day of school on Wednesday, and it was great to have grandma and grandpa here for that big send off!

We fit in time to have an early birthday celebration for Kendall as well as dinner at Wild Fin one night.  It's funny how a week sounds like a long time until you are actually living it.  Then it zips by in a blink of an eye.  I find myself thinking, "we should have done this", or "we should have done that".  But then I realize that we hardly had time to breathe some days.  My mom is always good to remind me of this.  She can hardly believe how fast the days go by when you have three little people to take care of, and thinks I'm crazy to try in fit projects in on top of the daily grind.

We can not express how thankful we are that we get to see my parents so much.  It means so much that they take the time to stop and stay for awhile.  Their visits always come at just the right time.  Right when this ship is about to sink they swoop in and keep us afloat.  Love you guys!
