The Wedding

July 10, 2010

It was a beautiful day!  It couldn't have turned out more perfect.  We woke up to cooler temps, a few clouds and a slight breeze.  A perfect day for an outdoor wedding!

The bride looked stunning, and the groom couldn't have looked more handsome.  What a perfect couple they make!  The ring bearer cooperated, walked down the aisle, and made his mommy and daddy very proud.  And he looked pretty handsome himself!

Great job, Ryan!

So handsome!

He's doing good...but losing interest!

Introducing, Michael and Jenn Boehm!
Congratulations!!

The Rehearsal Dinner

The rehearsal dinner was at Michael and Jenn's house.  Karen worked really, really hard to get everything ready to ensure the BBQ went off without a hitch.  She must have worked too hard, because she ended up with the flu and wasn't able to make it.  We all felt so bad for her (and still do).  What awful timing.

Melanie jumped in to get everything set up while we were at the rehearsal.  She did an amazing job, and the BBQ was great!  The only thing that could have made it better is if Karen would have been able to join us.

The Rehearsal

The wedding rehearsal was Friday afternoon at 4pm.  It was HOT.  It was 95 degrees, not a cloud in the sky and no breeze.  HOT.  Ryan was not cooperative, and really didn't handle himself all that well.  We were really nervous about how he was going to do on the wedding day.

This was the first time we got to see the wedding site, and it was beautiful.  It really is a great spot to get married!

Friday Fiasco

On Friday the four of us headed out with Uncle Michael for a boating adventure.  Michael has an awesome boat, and wanted to take us out on the water to have some fun!  It was a hot day, so perfect to be out on the water.

We got out a little ways from the dock and Michael stopped the engine so we could jump in.  Kendall freaked out when he did, and Ryan started whining.  This was only the beginning.  David joined Michael, and made Ryan go in too.  Ryan went crazy!  He did not want to be in the water.  He cried until we got him out.  Apparently, the water was too cold.

Notice Ryan's sour face!

Kendall was not happy.  Those little life jackets are just no fun.  She was so miserable.   I know she looks happy in this picture...

...but this was how she really felt.

Ryan continued to have a sour face on the boat.

Michael got the tube set up so I could go tubing, and show Ryan how it was done!  I got in the water and was all set to go, but the boat wouldn't start.

Michael tried and tried to get the boat going while I relaxed in the water.  David was in charge of the whiny kids on the boat!  I really enjoyed my time floating.  It felt so good to be in the lake.  When we realized the boat wasn't going to start I started kicking.
And then the guys took over!

Thankfully, we didn't stop too far out and were able to make it in fairly quickly!  It was a bit of a fiasco, but we really had a good time.  It was just fun to be out on the water.  And I really think the kids enjoyed it too.

Thursday Night BBQ

We spent Thursday night at Michael and Jenn's just hanging out.  It was a nice way to end a hectic day!

Exploring Coeur d'Alene

Thursday morning I woke up super early probably because there was a baby kicking me in bed.  She's little, but certainly has mastered the art of being a bed hog!

I went out for a run, and enjoyed checking out the beautiful scenery around the hotel.  It sits right on Lake Coeur d'Alene, has a 3/4 mile board walk, hiking trail, beautiful park and bike trail.  I always feel so much better when I get my bearings!

When I arrived back at the room, everyone was up!  I wasn't expecting that, and neither was David.  I took the kids and went for a walk so David could get a workout in.  David totally missed out.

The kids and I had such a fun adventure!  We ran into Grandpa Bill just outside the hotel, and we walked down on the dock to check out the parked float planes in the water.  Then we ventured over to the moose and mouse statue.  The statues are based on a children's book, Mudgy and Millie.  There are five statues in Coeur d'Alene, and a walking trail that connects them.

This particular statue sits near the hotel overlooking the water.  We had fun checking him out, and Ryan loved that the Millie the mouse was sitting on Mudgy's nose!

Ryan was fascinated with the swimmers in the lake, so we sat down and watched them for awhile.  We chatted with one of the guys, then Ryan made me strike up conversations with another.  We talked about how far they were swimming, and if they were training for races.  He wanted me to talk to yet another, but the opportunity didn't present itself.  He said, "You could ask her about her swimming."  He's a funny kid.

Next we tried to track down another statue, or "pistachio" as Ryan calls them!  We ended up finding two more statues.  Each time I would take a picture of Ryan by the statue, and then he'd have to take a picture of me by the statue.  We never made it to the other two, but that will be on our list for next time!

When we got back to the hotel we went swimming!  Ryan and I had so much fun.  He was so brave and jumped in!!  Kendall lasted about 5 minutes and was ready for a nap.

FINALLY!

Ryan's excited face as we're getting ready to leave Seattle!

After much anticipation we arrived in Idaho Wednesday afternoon.  It was a long 5 + hour trip, but the kids did great.  We met up with Grandma Karen and Grandpa Bill about an hour and half outside Seattle by chance and had lunch with them, then traveled together the rest of the way.

We got checked into our hotel, then headed to Uncle Michael's!  Ryan was SO excited to see him (and Jenn)!  It is adorable how his face lights up when he sees Uncle Michael.  They  have so much fun together!

Uncle Michael and Aunt Jenn got Ryan a pitching machine as a gift for being the ring bearer.  He was thrilled!  I'm sure that machine will get a good workout over the summer.

Jenn's family was also at the house helping out with wedding stuff, and it was great to see them again.  They are the most wonderful people!  It really isn't hard to figure out why Jenn turned out the way she did.

We all enjoyed some pizza for dinner and each others company.  We all got on the same page of the rest of the weeks activities.  It was a fun evening.  We were exhausted when we got back to the hotel and all slept so good.
