Day 1: Jackson Hole

A beautiful day and the Grand Tetons - what a great way to start the trip!

Words or pictures can not describe the beauty of the Tetons.  They are spectacular!

The boys started the day fly fishing.  David was in his glory.  :)

Us girls started the morning painting 4th of July nails and doing hair.

Then we ventured to Jackson Hole for a trip up the tram to take in the amazing view of the area.  It was fantastic!  Monica McNamee joined us, and was THE BEST tour guide!  Her and Mary Jo live in the area and know Jackson so well.  Their knowledge of places to go, things to do was invaluable, and it was so great to see them!

It was so windy at the top!

To Driggs

The drive from Missoula to Driggs was really fun for me.  I loved when we exited off of I-90.  We've done I-90 to MN quite a few times now, so it was cool to see new country.  It was a beautiful drive, and we loved watching the storm clouds roll in.

What?!

We arrived in Driggs, ID mid-day and found our house rental after stopping at a fly shop so David could get fishing details.

Our house was perfect for the 12 of us, but we arrived with an expected surprise - no sheets on the bed!  We suspect the maid showed up, left and never came back.  The owner ended up coming over to pick up the laundry and getting everything worked out, but it was definitely a frustrating start!

Ryan spent a lot of time playing ball in the back yard, surprise, surprise!

The kids were so happy to be together, and the only downfall of the entire trip is that they didn't have enough time to just play.

Our route to and from Driggs took us past some amazing scenery, and a local moose hang out.

Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation

One of the things on David's list was to stop at the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.  Every time we drive through Missoula he mentions it, and it's never worked out but this time it did.  We were all so happy we stopped!

Ironic.  Messiness is Good.

To Missoula

On the road again....

We were so excited to hit the road for our Yellowstone / Grand Teton trip.  First stop:  Missoula.  My mom and dad flew in yesterday, and we hit the road this morning.  We're excited to meet up with the Gunderson family in Driggs, ID tomorrow.

Haircut Bribe

You do what you have to:

I was in desparate need of a hair cut before our vacation so I bribed the kids with iPad time so I could get my hair done.  It worked like a charm!
